I recently came across this news story, about an anchorman in Ireland who learned the dangers of ignoring foot problems the hard way. Political broadcaster, Ken Reid, developed type 2 diabetes and ignored his foot problems for so long he almost had to have his foot amputated (in the end doctors were able to save all but one toe from amputation). Reid was later diagnosed with leukaemia after a simple check-up with his podiatrist after noticing a nick on his foot. This led to an early diagnosis and a good prognosis for recovery. The take away? Pay attention to your foot health and if you have any concerns at all, visit your podiatrist. If you have any concerns at, please feel free to contact us.
